The Good
- Natural Finish with Coverage – Smooths skin without looking heavy. It’s my favorite foundation ever. Good coverage but looks like skin and gives it a lovely, dewey finish. (12 upvotes)
- Time-Saving & Long-Lasting – Works for busy routines. I use this exclusively because I have zero time to waste on my face chasing a toddler 😂. It lasts all day, doesn’t cake as long as you put some proper moisturizer on beforehand. (12 upvotes)
- Shade Range Inclusivity – One of the few cushions suitable for deeper tones. As a tanned south east asian, i definitely think Tirtir deserves all the hype and more… The only cushion most of us have ever been able to use so far, was tirtir. (11 upvotes) I’m really glad that a brand is (especially an Asian one) sent them products to try, and being encouraging of the brand when the shade didn’t match some of them. (17 upvotes)
- Performs on Mature Skin – Holds up and flatters. 56/F. This foundation will not budge… It has a beautiful glowy finish… It’s my ‘slay ’em’ foundation 😉 (47 upvotes)

The Not So Good
- Oxidation – Turns noticeably orange after wear. Nobody mentions this but it oxidizes SO badly… Put it on for work without testing first (bad move😭😭), looked GREAT on. Went into the work bathroom an hour later and I was trump-orange. (15 upvotes)
- Cakey Finish – Requires careful application. I have the red one and it took awhile to figure out how to apply it without looking cakey! Very thin layers and lots of blending, would not repurchase 😅 (42 upvotes)
- Heavy/Drying Feel – Uncomfortable on the skin. It feels heavy, like I’m wearing foundation. It felt drying. It felt like i have paint drying on my face. (11 upvotes)
Other Cushion Recommendations
- Stick to Clio, Romand if more budget, Jung Saem Mool if luxury. (11 upvotes)
- Definitely Romand Nu Zero if you’re trying to avoid pore clogging, by miles. It’s the only FA-safe cushion that I know of. (28 upvotes)
- Vs. Parnell Cushion tirtir has a LOT LOT LOT (!!!!) more coverage than parnell. like if i had to compare it mathematically it’s like 5x more coverage. (36 upvotes)
Tips & Tricks
- Application Technique – Thin layers and proper tools prevent oxidation/caking.
- If you apply it too much, it’ll turn orange. I tested on my hand before. If you apply it very thinly, layer by layer, it won’t oxidize. The coverage is good, so just tap lightly. (11 upvotes)
- I found the trick to making it last long and not look cakey/separated at all is to spray some setting spray on the puff, dab the cushion very slightly in the sponge and pat and mix it all over the cushion lid. (35 upvotes)
- You should never squish the sponge so that the bottom looks like it is covered in products… It’s better to do a light squish, tap most of it on the back of cushion holder, do half your face, and use the excess on the other half for another layer. (11 upvotes)
- Skin Prep – Essential for smooth finish.
- If you’re using tirtir, please remember to skin prep, especially if you have problem skin. Otherwise it will slowly emphasize spots and not sit on ur skin as well. (36 upvotes)
- For dry skin I would say moisturize. A lot. (47 upvotes)
The Verdict
TirTir cushion foundation stands out for its expanded shade range and high coverage – particularly valued in the Korean beauty market – but suffers from widespread oxidation complaints, cakiness, and variable wear time.
It performs best on normal to oily skin when applied in very thin layers over well-prepped skin. For dry or sensitive skin types, alternatives from Romand, Clio, or Jung Saem Mool may deliver more consistent results. While TirTir deserves credit for inclusivity, the product’s success depends heavily on technique and skin compatibility, making it a love-it-or-leave-it foundation.
